Poppies for Remembrance

multi coloured crochet flowers

I was reminded of the 5000 Poppies Project, when I heard an interview with Lyn Berry, on Radio National recently. Textile artist, Lyn started this project in conjunction with a colleague, in 2013, and it grew like topsy. The target of 5000 poppies was well and truly exceeded when the project was sent over 270,000 poppies: most from Australia, but many from all over the world. Since then, the blooms have popped up in various installations from 2014 to 2018, with a view to commemorating the years of World War 1.
With this in mind, I am making up some more poppies to add to the Yarn Bomb Tree before the 11th of November.
